HFGSC 2009 Report Card: Day One

Ladies and Gentlemen…Start Your Blenders” — it’s day one of the Happy Foody Green Smoothie Challenge 2009.

Part of the challenge is to get some activity in every day. This was no problem since I was scheduled to get up and teach an indoor cycling class at 5am this morning. My husband, being the wonderful man that he is, made sure that I had a second important ingredient of the challenge – THE SMOOTHIE – waiting for me as soon as I got home from class. This is what was waiting for me on the kitchen table.

For the record, it was quite tasty. This is what he put in it:

  • Blueberries
  • Strawberries
  • Banana
  • Fresh Raw Coconut
  • Almond Milk
  • Mustard Greens
  • Spirulina Powder

The rest of the day found me eating the following:

  • snack: raw almonds and dates
  • snack: fuji apple
  • snack: cantaloupe
  • drinks: lots of water and chai tea
  • dinner: oven baked red potatoes, sauteed green beans, freshly picked homegrown tomato

To finish the report:

  • no white sugar
  • no soda
  • no coffee
  • no processed food

Not too shabby for the first day. Let’s see how the other 29 go, shall we?
